2 King Street is a Grade II listed townhouse with a later shop addition, located in the historic centre of Stroud. Ian Rowan Heritage provided specialist heritage advice to support its conversion into a public house, ensuring that the building’s historic fabric and architectural character were respected throughout the development process.
The proposals required a careful understanding of the building’s evolution and significance to ensure that new interventions were sympathetic and reversible where appropriate. Ian’s expertise helped guide the design team and inform the heritage statement, leading to planning and listed building consent being successfully secured.
This project highlights the value of clear heritage guidance in achieving practical new uses for historic buildings, helping to bring them back into vibrant, sustainable use while retaining their distinctive character.
